Some beautiful AK's here! You all make me wish I had more!

A Norinco pre-ban underfolder and two Romanians.

My new -74 build:

* Excellent/like-new Bulgarian kit
* East German "zig-zag" compensator
* NDS-2 receiver, custom S/N to match kit trunnion
* Tapco G2 fire control and SAW grip
* VLTOR RE-47 5-position receiver adapter
* Magpul CTR stock
* Blackjack SWIFT lever and railed lower HG
* Scope rail from Tantal
* Assembly by a friend of mine who does them routinely
* Finish is Alumahyde II matte black; it will get camo'ed eventually

I still need to get a TD stubby vertical grip, some rail covers and a DD sling mount. I have a VTAC sling with QD swivels that will go on it, as well as a SureFire weaponlight. I'm holding out for LaRue to get their AK optics mount done, but might just stick an Ultimak on it if they don't have anything for us by next spring. Shoots great with iron sights, so I have no problem just doing that for awhile...

The term "Black Rifle" ain't just for ARs anymore...

Top to bottom: Arsenal SLR-106F, Armory USA .223 Saiga conversion, SLR-105/AK-105 SBR, Practical -74

MoonDancer - Yes that is a Marlin 39D - Belongs to my brother, I've had it on loan for a while. Those were only made a few years, is a carbine version of the 39. This one was made in 1971, and is a tack driver with a nice light trigger. He got it for Christmas one year when we were kids. I hate the crossbolt safety on new lever actions, it is so unneeded.

A very nice lady at the range, she asked if she could hold it, I said forget holding it...shoot it!

My 1st build.  Romy G kit from Bocefus.

Here's my Afghan killer from ORF.  She shoots very very accurately.  I'd think it was an AR if it weren't for the sights.

I was unsure whether I should even bother posting. This has got to be the smallest AK collection on the whole board. I wish I wasn't a student and had a full time job so I could afford some more, especially with the elections coming up...

Romanian SAR-1 and GP-WASR.

Hoping to pick up another something at Dunham's day after Thanksgiving door buster sale. I'll be there bright and early scanning their cases...

Don't worry man, I only have two as well.  But my collection doesn't stop at AK's.  AR's, H&K's, Enfields, etc.

Fake wear?  Oh, whoops.  I see my question's already answered.  Didn't read the first line.

FYI it's very noticeable.

The WASR I picked up day-after-Thanksgiving on sale for $289-

ETA: It was at Dunhams Sports for those of you wondering.

They had two more there, and I was tempted to buy another, but the other two were in worse shape. The selector on one was FUBAR, and the mag wobble on the other was worse, and the general "fit and finish" wasn't good. Just didn't get a good feeling about that one. I think one of the more important things when buying a WASR is the ability to hand pick.

I'm fully impressed with the hardware shown in these threads. I don't have much in comparison(especially all you guys with beautiful Russian furniture), but here are a few of my builds. They're all G kits on NDS-3's with G2's, US brakes, and RSA pistons. All they need now is some park. I opt for US pistons since I like the flexibilty of different furniture. The one on the far left is my beater WASR. I'm on the search for Russian wood for the folder.

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/1723/kits007zd4.jpg

And here's a Romy G after serious work with a file (removed as much machine marks as possible) and a blasting cabinet. It was dropped off at our local smith for a polished hot blue. The furniture is Polytech. Next, I'm going to try and find a simple muzzle nut. I've got a matching mag that was also blued, but it's misplaced somewhere.

And it's pristine. The G2 and recoil spring unit were both blued as well, and since it's been back together, the carrier has only been racked once for a function test. The kit looked unfire when I got it, so it may stay that way. It will be a gift for my father.

What I meant by it's noticeable is that it definitely looks like fake aging.  You concentrated too much on the large flat easy areas.  Those don't usually get scuffed so evenly across their large surfaces.  large flat surfaces usually get scratches.

Just an observation.
