My 56 year old eyes are finally failing me with standard AK iron sights.  I tried opening up the rear sight notch and it helps some but I guess it is time to get an optic.

I have a Bushnell TRS-25 on my AR and am thinking of picking up one for my AK, but I am also considering the Vortex Strikefire.  Help me by identifying the pros and cons of each sight and which one would be a better choice mounted on a side mount.

I am looking at the RS mount.

I've got the Bushnell on 3 different rifles and love it.......You can't go wrong and the price is the best deal going when comparing quality for the money.

I can't comment on the Vortex but I am impressed with the Bushnell, especially for the price.  I have mine sitting on an Ultimak rail where it gets REAL hot and it keeps on going.

Also a fan of the TRS-25.  It's a tuff little guy with good battery life.  I prefer it's compact size and lighter weight compared to the Strikefire.

Another vote for the TRS or even a Primary Arms micro red dot.

I decided to buy a second TRS-25.  It seems the RS mounts are just about the same price at all of the sellers, hope to find one on sale soon, if not I will bite the bullet and order a 301 mount.

I own 3 StrikeFire II

I have them on:

AK74

AR15

PTR91

They are great, never had an issue with any of them, and my PTR sees alot of abuse being strapped on to the back rack of my ATV.

I prefer the primary arms/holoson red dots. Better battery live than the bushnell, and smaller than the vortex.

Cost is around 180 or lower.

Can't beat the bushnell for the price though

I use the Bushnell TRS25 on my Arsenal Sam 7sf.  Works great for me.

Never ran a Strikefire but I used to have an M4 clone red dot and after picking up a TRS-25 for another rifle I ditched the M4. The TRS-25 does the same job for half the weight & bulk. For the price I can buy two Bushnells for one Vortex. That matters when you've got a dozen rifles with optics.
