Russian Optics and Left Handed Shooters - Page 1

Hi guys, I'm looking at some optics for some of my AK's and trying to figure out which will work well for me considering I am a left handed shooter. I know some of the Russian scopes mount off to the left instead of being centered in line with the bore. I would like to find one that is centered so I don't have to crane my neck over to use it properly. Are any of the PSO/POSP scopes centered or are there mounts that can be swapped out to center them over the receiver? I'm mainly looking at the 4x and 6x models. Also, what about the PO3.5x21P optics? Are they centered or left of center?

The only POSP scopes I've seen that have been able to be centered are the ones with the weaver bases, and that would just depend on what mount you use.

if its offset to the left, it may actually be more comfortable with you being left handed.

the cheek weld was better when shooting left handed for me than right handed with the same set up, this was a psop on a vepr.

I'll save you the trouble. Russian optics are complete shit for the most part, you are better off avoiding them,

You can always get a quality side mount like the NPZ or the RS Regulate which will allow you to center mount just about any western optics.

Also here's a chart showing the left offset of all the optics I've measured. Actually most are centered.

PO 3.5x21P is a good optic but really effin heavy. You'll do well with Kashtan or PO4x24P2 if you can find them. These two in particular are the best magnified Russian optics IMO but pricey and rare.

Thanks for that chart. I would like to get a PO4x21P2 but haven't seen any for sale. The POSP's are appealing because of the price point, but I don't think the left offset will work for me. I'm starting to think a low powered variable in an RS Regulate mount might be my best bet.
