THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I've gotten two different answers about this, so I'm going to toss it out to the crowd: does the FastFire III on a Midwest Industries / US Palm optic-specific topcover have co-witness? I don't care if it's lower 1/3 or absolute, I just care that it has something.

I used to have a FastFire II on a MI optic specific upper and it co-witnessed.
So if the FastFire III is the same height as the FastFire II then it will.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I know that it works with an FFII... just seeing if anyone had actually done it with an FFIII. I don't have the optics to compare side by side.

Excellent! MI had told me it wouldn't, but I also wondered if their information was from a thread on here that had a somewhat different problem (canted rail due to barrel profile).

So, I just mounted my FFIII, and there's definitely no co-witness. The rear of the FFIII is higher than the FFII, which JUST obscures the front post. So, it looks like I'm in the market for a cheap, used FFII after all. Also, sorry for doubting you, Troy @ MI!

On the plus side, the white line on the back of the FFIII does make for a decent aiming point in a pinch, and I can adjust windage on the RPK rear sight, so I'm not totally SOL.

CRAP!! Wish I saw this thread before yesterday. Just ordered a FastFire III and expect to have it some time next week.

I will be the fourth to confirm or deny cowitness. Have been wondering for a couple of weeks on this issue and finally said fuckit, I will take a chance. This sucks balls if it's a no-go.

So, finally got a chance to run my AK-SS with FastFire III at the range.

Bad news: still not co-witnessing, and seeing the white stripe on the rear of the sight is tricky. Also, that handguard gets SUPER FREAKING HOT under rapid-fire. VFG, rail covers, or gloves recommended if you decide not to shoot from a rest.

Good news: the FF3 shoots damned nicely otherwise. No trouble zeroing it, and it feels reasonably natural in the spot it's in. I added a VFG w/ laser to act as a backup sight until I hunt down a FFII.

I did a little experimentation, and swapped out the FF3+FFtopcover combo for a standard topcover and the FF3 mounted on an ADM QD mount.

Turns out that you can actually see the iron sights through the bottom of the mount, and you only need a slight shift of your cheek weld to move to look through the FF3. Not a perfect solution by any means, but it works.

Have you looked at the dot in low light conditions? I am looking to possibly add one to a saiga 12 and wanted the ability to use it low light applications.

The heat of the handguard is what worries me, the fastfire 3's max operating temp is 130F. I am worried that it might fry up there. Iam gonna get an Attero mount. Good cowitness a hood and no heat. We'll see
