THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I like the system becaues it does allow for a co-witness with the existing iron sights. I'm curious about if anyone has had any issues with this sytem. In particular any corrosion issues with the mating of aluminum components against the steel parts of the barrel, rear sight block and gas block. Any feedback? |

The Ultimak is a rock solid mount. Although I am not currently using it, I used one for years and really liked it. Very lightweight and compact. No corrosion issues of any kind.

as the UltiMAK is anodized (which is to say, pre-corroded), it won't corrode on the steel of your gun.

I have 3 Ultimaks. I like them so much I wish they were standard issue on AK's. There are absolutely no corrosion issues. In actuality, when properly set up, the Ultimak doesn't touch the gas block or rear sight housing. Its only contact is with the barrel itself.

That one spent 2 1/2 years on that Ultimak and never missed a beat. Awesome little MRD for the money as you well know. |

can you still clean the hole. because i clean that area on mine by taking that tube off every time, is it easy to take it off or do you just send a a 12 gauge patch down the whole once you pull the piston?

I'm planning on getting one for my 74. My buddy has Ultimaks on both his AKs - he loves them and confirms all the praise I've read online about them. We put several thousand rounds through his AKs last time I visited and I didn't notice any slop or play the entire time. Optics kept their zero the entire time. This is amazing simply for the fact that my buddy does not baby his rifles at all and pretty much tosses them around in the back of his truck. It looks awesome, too. I hate bulkiness on the fore end, so the Ultimak is win-win.
