THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT However I would like to try something else now....perhaps the following: Midwest Industries mount: http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=447 And an Aimpoint.....of which I am having a hard time selecting and figuring out the differences between...... I need something tough enough to withstand real rough pig hunting conditions... Mount and glass co-witnessed would be nice.... Any suggestions?? |

The MI mount in your link or the similar RS Regulate mount are going to be your only co-witness options for a side mount. Either would be great, but the RS does add the ability to center the Aimpoint with your iron sights. The MI doesn't have windage adjustment, but I think it has a slightly better attachment method.
Your Aimpoint options are one of the M3/M2/C3 series. The M3 and M2 are basically the same, but the M3 has better battery life. The C3 has the same battery life as the M3, but the C3 is made of lighter weight aluminum. I'd recommend the ML2/ML3 non-nightvison models to save on cost too. Aimpoint Product Comparison Page |

X2 on the MI Mount or the RS Regulate mount. I would go with the Aimpoint Pro model. Specs are similar to the Aimpoint M3 but the battery life is shorter (3 years vs 5 years constant on). You can find the Aimpoint Pro for $400. You can always sell the Aimpoint Pro AR mount on EE and recouped some of the cost toward the side mount.
I'm currently using the RS Regulate mount with an Aimpoint M2 and it's an awesome combo. I like the ability to center the Aimpoint with my iron. I only hunt paper so no comment on how durable the setup is. ![]() |

Does the locking "paddle" on that RS get in your way when you're changing mags of anything? |

I also have the RS mount and like it fine. The fact that it is windage adjustable is a nice feature. I do prefer the ADM clamping mechanism of the MI mount however. Either is an excellent mount that would serve you well. My RS/PK-23 combo: ![]() |
