CAA Aluminum M4 "Commercial" adapter from Carolina Shooters Supply... not bad for the money.

How is yours different from the one here?

From the picture, yours appears to be missing the sling loops on the side.

Yeah mine does not have the sling loops, went with it since i already had the E93 sling plate.

I believe CAA makes three different versions

- Aluminum with loops

- Aluminum without loops

- Polymer without loops

MI SS/T-1, pics suck but whatever. Haven't fire it yet, if the handguard doesn't get too hot I'll ditch the VFG and reposition the light.

Thanks

How do you like that sight mount? Is it solid? How easy is it to clean the rifle with this mount in place? I have been debating about getting a mount like that on my CR but have not seen a lot of reviews/feedback.

It is solid, but nowhere near as solid as the US Palm handguard mounts for the MI rail systems. Mine has held zero for over 300 rounds now, and I don't anticipate any issues for range use, however I'd be reluctant to give it any hard real knocks. I do love how the setup feels and maneuvers (I much prefer it over the handguard mount in fact), but it relies solely on set screws (four of them, in fact) which is a huge detractor for me from a durability standpoint. One set screw holds the mount firm in the rear sight base by applying pressure to a horizontal pin which runs through the original rear sight's mounting location, a pair of larger set screws lock on to the "ramp" of the rear sight base which prevent horizontal movement and add additional rigidity, and (my least favorite part) a single, small set screw holds the zero for the dovetailed rear sight and optic mount, where they could have easily had at least two set screws for added integrity, especially considering the dovetail itself for the rear sight and optic mount is machined with enough tolerance to allow it to slide freely, aka if that one set screw ever shoots loose your rear sight AND the optic itself are useless. Again, with all that said, it has not given me any issues nor do I anticipate it to do so, and I don't intend on switching to the handguard mount unless the SHTF.

Oh and the mount has no effect on cleaning the rifle, it does not need to be moved in order to remove the top cover.

My new Saiga with a Primary Arms red dot sight. I'm about to order a 6x42 POSP for it.

not an optic but it has a lens:

Impact Weapons Components/Mount-N-Slot Dropwing light mount, it mounts to the MI/US PALM top cover but you have to center the mount, all the way forward doesn't allow clearance with the top cover screws. Also, I used the "non-SS" backing plates, really glad it came with the two sets.

still need to cut some TD rail covers and then countersink and drill through holes so I can bolt them directly to the sides. Noveske NST eat your heart out haha jk. It'll be ghetto but practical for me. I don't want to add rails just to put on rail covers. this way it would be less bulky as well

Maybe I'm just used to seeing AK's with red dots and polymer furniture, because your AK really stands out. I like it a lot.

Wow! Got any more pics of that one?

ACOG on a Texas Weapons System rail. I get 2" groups at 100yrds. on my Vector AK

no more rear site? no problem, just use the hole under the ACOG as a ghost ring.
