Great thread idea, IMO this should be pinned.

Guys, if you can post what type of optic is in the pic, that would be helpful.

Clandestine:  that is absolutely freakin' beautiful.  Your AK is probably the prettiest I've ever seen (of course, that's always a matter of opinion).  What is it? The receiver and such.  Bulgarian, Romy, what?  Your photos are making me want to put an Irondot on my Lancaster Russian Red.

Liquid metal, what optics are those?

Sundance, what optics are those?

Rayman, what the heck optic is that?  Is that Rusky night vision or something? Looks heavy.

Probably easier to just edit your post if you guys feel like answering my questions.

Regards,

Burns

Burns,

Thanks for the compliments. I did a thread on her if you would like more details. Please feel free to ask anything. Ill be glad to help.

My AK Thread in General Discussion

I built her. Its a Polish Underfolder Parts Kit (7.62x39). The receiver is a Armory USA unit. A NDS receiver would be a suitable replacement. My build isnt much different than a Lancaster Build. The wood was unfinished, I dyed it and finished it up.

I really like my Irondot. No complaints so far. Great setup.

It works a bunch better than I thought it would, and yes I like it very much, but the T-1 Micro is better but costs more.

It is solid and stable. Keep in mind, it comes oversized; you have to file it down to get it to fit. I filed it a little, tried it out, filed it a little... once it was really close, probably tapped it in there with a hammer. It's solid, no wiggle.

I just searched Flickr for UltiMAK and picked some pictures. If it's supposed to be "aks with optics that you personally own", I'll gladly delete the pictures of rifles I don't own.

No worries. I was just kind of surprised to see my rifle already posted. If I was pissed I would have just swapped the picture file with some gay porn or something similar. Probably not a bad idea to say "not my pics" or something similar when you do that though. At least you linked it to my Flickr page and by doing so gave me proper credit for my photo.

Here is my Aresenal Bulgaria SLR-105 (5.45x39 for those who might not know) with accompanying Kobra red-dot sight.  I tried to get this things as close as I possibly could to what Russian Spetsnaz and Russian Police are using.  Would you believe I've had the same battery in that mother since I bought this thing all most two years ago?  Keeps its zero too.  I'd put this rifle's performance up against my M-4 decked out with EOTech 552 (and various other crap, $3K invested total) any day of the week!

[Last Edit: 1st-Armored-Division] [#50]
Here is my AK 47 pistol again, but with a new optic that will be for this weapon %99 of the time. The optic came from LaRue Tactical ( LT-624 ) and is called a LT Pride Fowler MRD (Mini-Red Dot) with the low profile mount. The red dot is built very nicely. It is really a nice MRD optic that is built to handle rough treatment. I chose the low profile version with the outstanding LaRue mount/optic shroud that's built around the Pride & Fowler MRD. In the upper right pic that I have added to the overall master pic, there is something that might, or not, be something that one might consider to be a bad thing, but then again it may be no big deal at all depending upon the application of the weapon with this particular optic. It has an on/off switch and two other on options. If the optic is turned off then the on/off switch is fully slid to the left. When you move the switch to the right, which is in the middle position, then the optic is in auto-adjustment mode for the dot (the red dot increases or decreases in intensity depending upon it's built in sensor), move the on/off switch to the right one more final time and the optic is set for full on and full brightness of the red dot. I do believe that this optic has a 5 MOA pulse LED. This LaRue Tactical / Pride Fowler Mini Red Dot is a very small, yet strong and robust optic. Looking at it on the web and actually having it in your hand is a huge difference, as I have truly found that this optic is very nice and built like a baby tank. In this picture I am showing a SureFire E2D light affixed to a LaRue Tactical LT-707 in-line mount, but I do alternate a LaRue Harris Bipod QD mount with a Harris Bipod. Then again sometimes I'll have both the light and LT Harris Bipod mount both hooked up to the 6 O'clock rail. Usually that light or a model E2DL is on this weapon most of the time. Originally I was going to keep my Aimpoint T-1 Micro with the very low mount on this Romanian pistol, but once I really got to examining the T-1, I decided that I would rather have it for one of my several AR 15's. Now the T-1 is truly the best MRD that I have ever seen or had the pleasure to own. But this LT Pride Fowler is a damn good optic and is a very nice match to this weapon. The optic takes the 3 V lithium coin sized 1632 battery. You do not have to take the optic off to replace the battery, which I did do a test with the supplied Jap 1632 battery. I'm hoping that it will get better with the new Swiss 1632 battery, the reason I say this is because the original battery lasted about 1 month with it continually on, most of the time in the always on setting of this MRD switch, which would be fully slid to the right position from the on/off adjustment sliding switch. Caliber of pistol is 5.56 x 45 mm or .223.
