They are equivalent in quality and function, people pay more for Chinese due to "collector value".

I can get 76 rounds into my Romanian, no problem +1 in the pipe for 77, it does

I've only loaded & emptied mine 5 or 6 times but so far not one malfunction. I don't think I've read one bad word concerning the quality of the new Romanian drums. I know the top loaders are considered top dog but I like the convenience of reloading from the back and being able to keep a full drum in long term storage without winding.The included directions are good but there are some excellent youtube videos on loading & winding.
