I'm brand new to AKs.
Are there reliable, inexpensive surplus 20rnd mags that are compatible with a Wasr 10?

Like an AR, I'd prefer a handful of 20s on hand

The Hungarian 20rd mags still seem to be reasonably common. They're sometimes called "tanker" mags if that helps your search any.

This. They are best-of-breed in steel 20's, but getting hard to find and very expensive.

Keep an eye on EE listings, they can occasionally be found for $25 shipped.

Have read mixed reviews on the S. Korean twenties,
probably OK for range use age but agree Hungarian tankers for serious use.

If you can't find Hungarian tankers, there's a guy over on the files that will cut-down 30-rounders to order.

Tapco ones never failed me, probably not what you want, but still an option.

I started off with a few Tapco 20s, never gave me any problems for range use although I had to sand them down to get them to fit. The HungariansTanker 20s are hands down the best 20s available, Centerfire Systems used to sell a three pack with pouch for like $45 but they haven't run that deal in a while. Last Hungarian tanker I bought was $28 in like new condition. Next time I place an order with CDNN I'm gonna try one of their Korean 20s, they're still 9 bucks. I hope to see Magpul come out with a 20 round AK mag one of these days.

Magpul has some great mags, but sadly, they dont come in 20s. I do however have an easy way to make some 20rd AK mags. Heres my link on how to, its an easy conversion and keeps some 20 rounders on hand and doesnt cost half as much as some of the Tankers.

I think the new Gibbs-Matra mags are coming in 20 and 30 round configurations. Supposed to be real steel from Europe.

Per Gibbs, the 20 round mags won't be available for at lest six months.

Here you go.  I haven't had a chance to snap photos yet in one of my rifles so these are Bad-Element's pics from over on the AK Files after he finished cutting it down for me.  My bakelite "tanker" came out great!...

Thanks D_CRISIS.  I had it made to compliment two of my upcoming projects...Tabuk "sniper" clone and Draco SBR.

Bumping this, any source that sells 20rd mags. I'm not into the DIY thing for this...

Thanks

And, for what it's worth, I snagged a 20 round Korean steel mag from CDNN for $9 and it runs fine thru my WASR, better quality than earlier asian mags I've seen. The Hungarian Tankers are still the best mag out there but this is a nice cheap alternative.
