I have only 12 of each so far so I paint a blue band at the bottom for the 5.4 and a green one on the 7.62.

I keep them in the same tote, about half and half. I just turn them opposite directions, >>>> <<<<. It's pretty obvious to me which is which.

I keep them in the same plano trunk - 5.45 mags do not fit in 7.62 aks and vice versa.  The 7.62 mags are curved and the 5.45 mags are straight-ish

The 545 mags are easy to tell apart for me.  However, I do paint an olive green band on my M85 556 mags to set them apart from 545 mags.

Yeah, this is what I've done.  I am in the habit of marking mags when I train with others so this is an easy step.

All my 7.62X39 are steel, and none of my 5.45X39 are, so it is a non-issue for me as far as identification.  LOL.

I use Container store totes , the heavy duty black ones with latch on lids are strong and they stack without crushing .

In that picture use the one on top right for AK mags it holds about 30 or so . The top big one will hold a lot of AK mags and weighs a fortune when you have to move it , it is better for AR mags.
