Since the bolt closes upon removal of the mag that wouldn't really serve any real purpose for me, though I could see how it'd come in handy for shooting ranges that want open bolts.

I just don't get the point of a bolt hold open that slams shut as soon as you remove the mag. Can someone explain this to me?

Helps you to know the rifle is dry before you pull the trigger on the bolt forward on an empty chamber and hear "Click"
The recoil impulse feels a bit different and once you are tuned in, it is a good way to know you shot it dry. |

Most of my AK mags are BHO & they work great for me. Just passing the info along that these mags from AIM can be modified if anyone was looking to do it. That is not a bolt hold open follower.
So what is it? I have other followers in mags that are like this but are solid instead of hollow. |

Those don't have to be modified in any way to work. I've used the followers Robarms used to sell to make BHO mags just like you've done. They work great. |

Hell, they're most likely Chinese mags......just sold through Eastern Europe. More than likely, those mags were purchased from China, and have been sitting in Eastern Europe for decades, new in the crate. I have some Pre-Ban Chinese mags that you wouldn't be able to separate from those mags if I mixed them together. |

Aim has said that the mags they are selling now are Albanian Albania loves Chinese AK's and copied them extensively. Most likely Chinese magazines that were imported into Albania. |
