Recall that in an earlier test 45gr varmint defeated the Level III armor at 3,238 fps. The 53 gr 7N6 hit at 3,167 fps. I'm not going to wait to post the test this time so before you watch the video, make your prediction. Does it get through?

7n6 mild steel core adds little to armor penetration, much like the mild steel core in 7.62x39mm adds little to armor penetration. Years ago I did some informal testing comparing 7n6 against M-855 projectiles. The M-855 were resized to .221" and loaded into 5.45 cases with the same powder charge as the 7n6. Obviously the 9 gr. heavier M-855s were going somewhat slower, but they penetrated mild steel plate much better than the 7n6. They also penetrated stacked pine boards better. The 7n6 exhibited the early yaw it is so well known for, which severely limited its penetration in the wood. The 7n6 was designed to tumble in flesh, not penetrate armor or cover.
