7.62x39mm Sellier & Bellot 123 gr jacketed soft point fired from WASR-10/63 into calibrated 10% gelatin. This ammunition is brass cased and boxer primed. The projectile measures 0.311"

BB: 592.8 fps, 3.6"

Impact velocity: 2,438 fps
Penetration: 14" of gelatin, 6" of water jug
Retained weight: 81.5 gr
Max expansion: 0.608"
Min expansion: 0.475"

Yes, thanks for doing this test. The the case mouth is crimped and the primer is sealed for moisture protection. They are also packed in oil resistant boxes for extended storage life. The velocity is very respectable and having a .311 bullet is great.

I buy the Herters for $11 a box at Cabela's which is re-boxed S&B, it is pretty good ammo and a great source of brass.

Nice. I thought the Herter's was steel cased Tula imported by Herter's. Thanks for the heads up.

Herter's IS repackaged Tula. I'm guessing he means Herter's "Select", which is brass-cased.
