Ran some of the PMC out of my M92 PAP, and it's about 200 fps slower than everything else I've chrono'd to date..

S&B, m67, and many steel case variations are hover around 2000-2100 fps

PMC is the slowest I have tested out of both 10 and 16 inch barrels.

Hell, it is slower than 154 Wolf out of a M92 PAP.

That said, a few of the premium offerings are also under 2000 fps.

FWIW, I got a 1916 fps average from 20 rounds...which matches up nicely with what you saw.

Good to know. The local Wal-Mart competitor has it on clearance. I come back every week waiting for it to drop another 15-25% before I buy more, just wanted to make sure it was the norm :D

PMC is almost always slower in just about any caliber.

To me it seems that Russian (and maybe the other ex-soviet) 7.62 Chrono's faster than other ammo.  The US, W. Europe, Korean etc 7.62x39's all chrono slower.  Did you ever chrono the PMC in a 16" barrel?  I'd bet it's slow in a full sized rifle as well.

Also I think I recall seeing a test that showed that some ammo did significantly better than others in the 10" barrel; I think I remember brown bear doing awful but then wolf having little performance loss vs. a 16 gun.

In particular the "Bronze" line of ammo.

PMC's XTAC line is much better... although I have never seen any XTAC 7.62x39.

I had a S&W 2nd gen 9mm with a heavy Wolf spring for shooting +P+ police loads.  It hated PMC 9mm!  I had to put the factory spring back in for it to cycle reliably!
