I have a Chinese AK drum that has been kept  loaded many years (why not- not under any spring tension). It is loaded with copper washed cased Chinese AK ammo from the late 1980s. I realize the ammo is corrosive (well- the primers are), but since this drum is meant to be used in case of emergency (SHTF), would you keep the Chinese ammo in it or go to something non-corrosive (newer)?  My understanding is that "corrosive" primers are more reliable over a longer period of time.

Granted, this drum may never be emptied in my lifetime, but I want it loaded with ammo that will go bang even another 30 years from now.

Thoughts?

Yugo M67
You don't have to replace it with something, but if you were going to, I'd replace it with that or Golden Tiger, IMHO. Both better terminal ballistics than chinese steel core, Yugo M67 is still corrosive and will last a long time; Golden Tiger is lacquered and primer/case mouth sealed to last a long time as well.

I would replace it with non corrosive. In my zombie apocalypse SHTF fantasy, I ain't got no time for cleaning weapons and such.

Ditto. Heavy and noisy. Leave mine unloaded as a novelty/collectable (original Soviet issue)...
