I was looking at this article and think that a gun vise would be a good thing to have overall.

Any recommendations in the $50-$100 range?

I have both the Tipton Best Gun Vise and Gun Butler. I like both fine, but I use the the Gun Butler far more often for general work because of it's simplicity. Both work well.

A 9mm might expand to .45, but a .45 will never shrink to 9mm.
Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.

bought the Tipton also, needed it to level the Midwest industries rail. aside from that I REALLY haven't used it for anything. I should've bought something like a lockable but articulating bench vice with different jaw surfaces. don't remember where I saw it though. but it seems more practical

I have a bench vise like that, very very handy.
