I took my SAR-3 out to the range today and several lame things happened. Let me start by stating the I replaced the original FCG with one from Red Star Arms. I adjusted it to where I wanted it (single stage trigger) and it's the nicest trigger I've ever experienced. That was close to a year ago and I've shot it very little since then. I used blue Loctite (non permanent) to hold the adjusted FCG.

I used all Bulgarian 5.56 mags, which feed flawlessly. I started out with Tula 55 gr. HP .223.

At first I would fire a round, and it would eject. However the next round would not feed every time. Some rounds would get jammed at a 45 degree angle between the magazine and the chamber. I noticed that the tip of some of the hollow point bullets which failed to feed, were shaved.

So, I switched to the MFS zinc plated FMJ ammo I had and I experienced a couple of the same FTF's, but did not notice any damage to the bullets.

I discontinued the use of the HP ammo and stuck with the zinc FMJ stuff. The new problem was that the rifle turned into and bolt action. After I would fire a round, the bolt would stay back as if it had a BHO feature. It does not.

No jammed follow up round, just a bolt stuck in the rear of the receiver. I had to release the charging handle as though it were a Mosin Nagant and the next round would fire. It did this for the next 10 rounds or so.

It would then fire normally for several rounds. The next issue was that it would double tap! It went from being a bolt action to select fire! WTHeck?!!??

So, I'm a bit confused and haven't had the time to look at it further since I've gotten home. I think that it may have to do with the RSA adjustable trigger being set with too light of a trigger pull or the Loctite coming undone.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Yes, that was it indeed. Got it adjusted and it's fantastic!
