I'm relatively new to AK building..... I have a full  Saiga conversion coming along fairly well, but slow... as I want to do it right. I have collected about $600 worth of tooling from AK Builder and an HF press. I have a mechanical background and tig welding ability before anyone asks.

I picked up a real nice Polish AKM kit about 10 years ago and need a receiver for it (with no interest in building up from scratch). I also have a Russian 5.5mm folding stock that I would like to use for a Khyber  pass style build. I'm currently cutting the Saiga receiver for a Russian folder and would like to buy a receiver for the Polock with most of the work done (also may use as a reference). Are the Childer's gtg? Or is there another company I should look at?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance!

Confession.... I'm an AR guy that has gone to the dark side. I hate this place

Childers are awesome. Another option is Nodak Spud.

Childers makes a very nice receiver and if you want a custom serial number to match your parts set I would go that way.
I just purchased a Nodak Spud receiver for my Polish underfolder project. I am rescuing a bad build on a Hesse / Vulcan receiver and went thru the same thought process as you are now. The NDS receivers really are top shelf and you can't go wrong either way

I decided to rescue my project rifle due to its shape and it having the original barrel was a plus.

Will a Nodack work with a Russian side folder? As opposed to a Bulgarian? Or is the difference in degrees (rear of receiver) to little to notice? Thanks for the input again fella 's.

Nice work rescuing  that Polish under folder!

Depends on the Russian trunnion. They were made in both 4.5mm and 5.5mm. You can mix and match trunnions to receivers but you'll be left with an ugly fit.
