I've searched without finding a clear how-to, but how have you guys modified a 5.45 bolt and carrier to work with the 9mm round? i assume you guys modified it for blowback?

Anyone tried ramping the locking lugs on the bolt and trunnion for a 9mm build? My thoughts are that the bolt would have full travel for function, and the rotation would slow down the rearward travel of the bolt?

I am going to be attempting a gas operated 9mm build. I got a 74 receiver and bulgy 74 parts kit. My barrel came already machined and chambered in 9mm from Requiem Arms http://www.requiemarms.com/9-mm-ak-47-or-74-barrel I bought a MP5 Magwell adapter made by forum member name MI or the guys building the Volk Armament V9. The only piece I am really missing for my build is a Romanian SAR-II bolt in 5.45. It has shorter locking lugs compared to the bulgy bolt and allows you to seat the barrel deeper in the trunnion or closer to the mag.

Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea any of that stuff was there. My build has now taken a different direction, I am definitely going to build a gas op 9mm.

Most of the 9mm conversions out there are not gas operated.  The 9mm doesn't seem to have enough energy for it.  There are a good variety of blowback builds though.  Here is the first video on a 9mm build series.  There are 6 videos total but they will give you an understanding of whats involved in the build.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIOGzkylTbw
