Someone brought in a Izmash(sp?)/ Saiga AK in 7.62x39 with the 24X1.5 mm RH thread AK74 type muzzle brake. He wanted a surefire type muzzle brake installed as he's buying a suppressor. After removal of the brake and FSB, surprise, surprise the barrel is not threaded. The barrel measures approx. .531" OD any suggestions for threading the barrel without removing it? Looks like there is enough metal for a 1/2x28 thread but there wouldn't be much shoulder for the brake.
Thanks

Fat finger on the first one. The Actual OD on the barrel is .571 so its got enough meat to thread 14x1 LH. Question is if I die thread it will it be ok to run a suppressor with the Surefire brake?
