So I have been wanting to do an AK build for some time now, and just got my blueprint from RifleConnection.com and they have a few materials listed that can be used, but I am wondering which is best. Also there is a section on the side that needs to be stamped .110 deep or have spacers welded behind the slot, which method is better?!  Also which type of coating should I use? Any tips on a first AK build or references you can point my way would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you're a DIY person and enjoy going the extra mile, 10$ for a blueprint is a waste.  You'll have to bother with finding 1mm sheet metal, cutting it, bending and scribing the top rails, and all the other extra legwork.  Just get a receiver flat and bend it.

The most authentic would be to parkerize it.

If you don't want to buy a bending jig & hydraulic press you could buy a blank or complete receiver.
