THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I am looking at putting my milled AK parts kit together with my NOS SLR-100 receiver. I put the bolt and bolt carrier on the receiver and the bullet guide is keeping the bolt from closing. I have been reading up on the assembly and multiple sources have said that a new bullet guide requires fitting to the bolt in order for it to close. My kit came with a bullet guide that appears to have been fitted already. Can I use this or will I need to fit the new bullet guide to my bolt. This is my first milled build.

Post some pics of the bullet guide and your bolt. On some bolts there needs to be a small chamfer on the bolt where it meets the guide to cause rotation. Some bolts don't have this. Also how the bullet guide is installed could have a lot to do with it.

Here is a photo of the bullet guide, the one that came in the kit has more space between the flat part and the "ramp".

Yeah, that bullet guide looks like it was never fit to any bolt. I would probably remove it and try it with the guide that came with your kit. Sucks that you have to remove a factory installed guide, since I think they're a PITA to install and have look good, but it's not impossible.

Yeah, this receiver has never been used so it makes sense that the bullet guide was never fit to a bolt. I will try the bullet guide from my kit.

Thanks

Before you go drilling it out I would at least exhaust all other attempts at making it work as is. Just don't damage anything.

I plan on doing just that, I am going to make very sure I do not do any damage.
