Does your barrel, trunnion, FSB, and RSB have the sizing numbers on them?

From what I've read at AKFILES if you have a non-matching barrel be sure to pay attention to the sizing numbers or you may end up with a barrel that is too tight or too loose to work with your trunnion and sight blocks.

Pretty good guess would be no since it was an Eqyptian kit and a Romanian barrel but nice to know. There is always chance each time you build an AK that something is going to be different (probably why many here are born again AK builders after building ARs, ARs are pretty straight forward while AKs have little challenges no matter how long you have been building).

i have done a few barreless kits and switched barrel parts.never a problem.if the part is to tight on the barrel, just sand the barrel with sandpaper until fits.of the part is loose on the barrel knurel the barrel to tighten it up.

Bouncer55, outstanding write up! I just ordered one of those kits to try my hand at assembling all of the parts onto a barrel. Should be a fun build, thanks for the inspiration.

Very well done thank you.

I like the stand that would make a good center piece for my dinning room table.

that stand with my rifle sits on my desk.apex still has these kits.i suggest if anyone wants 1 to grab it.i posted this build pictorial in a couple of places.when guys see that it is not that hard of a build they will probally sell out fast.when centerfire had milled yugo kits for $79,they could not give them away in 2005.i posted my milled to bent blank pictorial and they sold out pretty quick.reason was because back then there was no new milled receivers or no rewelds, thus no way to build until i showed how.here is the link to the kit

I know for a fact they had some this morning....CUZ I bought one!

Been thinking about getting another kit...the AMD-65 was looking interesting, but I don't care for the folder stocks, even though I have both an M70AB2 and Tantal, they just don't have the draw or feel of a fix stock. Working on a 80% bent receiver right now and on the down hill with it. I still have one more "G" kit waiting for a receiver...they will have to wait until I my 7.62X39 AR finished though, barrel should be here next week..next pay day I'll order the AR performance 7.62X39 bolt and I'll be ready to shoot that AR.

Nice work BTW- your very skilled!

OMT-thanks for the push...I needed it to buy the Egyptian kit...
