This may not be the right place for this question so move it if necessary.  I'm going to color fill my AR15 in a couple of places and after watching a number of videos I am curious as to what product is best to use.  People use both Testors and Nail polish, which holds up better?

I use matte acrylic paint from the hobby section at Wal-Mart.  It doesn't have that glossy sheen like most Testors enamel or nail polish.

Don't forget Crayola.  Crayons work well also, and are much easier to change, or remove.  I have not used them.  I just want you to be aware of other options.  I bought nail polish at a local Walgreens.  Nail polish is expensive

Also I practiced on a few magazines before doing anything I cared about.

I write on my optics and other parts of my rifle with a Sharpie pen. They make the oil based pens you can pick up at any hobby shop. It resists all non-petrol chemicals I put on it.

I use testors with a little bit of thinner, gravity does most of the work.

We have been using nail polish. There are some good videos on YouTube about how to prep your stuff and how to do it .Works pretty well.

I used Testors on my pistol sights.  Seemed to wear off and get dull.  Tried nail polish more recently, and it seems to hold up better.
