Just a little boredom on Sunday. Decided to make a graphic on paint brush and organize a bin of lower receiver parts kits to put in over time.

That's a great idea and nicely done, I think I will do the same thing. Would you mind sharing the graphic file you made?

Nice work sir +1 on the graphic file. You should make one for upper parts too

Thanks guys. I'll be making more bins as parts roll in.

Just print it out on 8.8 x 11 paper and you should be good to go. Move items around in paint "cut and paste" method like I did if you want to rearrange. I made this to fit Bass Pro SKU 2370019  #991847 plastic bin. they were like 6.00 each or so.

It all depends on what parts that you want to have on hand and what type of bin that you buy. Makes it impossible to know tray layout due to size differences, parts....etc.

Feels like I am missing something...   What do you think? Anything missing?

Going by size on the same bin that I am using, you can set the dividers to fit the parts where I have them.

Psa has some good deals on LPK's for 50 or less....  you can fill it out cheap.

I bought a few LPK with their enhanced NIB "ept" trigger...  its basically a clone of the alg ACT with no noticeable difference.  People sell the ept triggers for 30 bucks... so if you buy a few of those LPK and sell the triggers, you have whole LPK minus fcg for 20 bucks each.

Not having any luck with your sku or part number...

Great work!!!

Yep figured that out as well. I search the sticker and came up with nothing. I'll have to hit up Academy to see if there's an alternative or even something better than what bass pro offered. I'll update if I find something and make more graphics.

I think RabidFox has it right...  Appears to be the same as the Plano 3700 series.

Cabela's is right around the corner from my office...  I'll take a peek over there and get back to the thread with the details.

Here is another option for guys who use their work bench frequently for AR servicing. There are bigger and smaller sizes of these but dang has this thing been handy.

I use the same thing to store all my small parts and odds and ends. After about ten years of heavy gun collecting and tinkering it's amazing how many extra, spare, and takeoff parts you will collect.

I have a couple of those. I was lazy and used sticker labels to mark the individual sections.

I bought a Flambeau box with Zerust dividers, said to produce vapors to protect against rust.  SUPPOSED to be like those long term storage bags.  I'LL work on setting on up like this.

Nice to know the election results, now we can still all acquire lower parts kits even though some places are out of stock. I know I will be stocking up on parts, uppers, lowers, guns and ammo for the next 3 years.

Do we really need 5 of everything?  Or is this just one of the symptoms of the AR infatuation?

This election year I wasn't prepared for what would've happened if everything dried up for parts. We moved down to Tennessee from horrible Ban state (Connecticut) back in February, so I have allot of collection to rebuild. Sold everything off back in 2012 when our idiot governor wanted to register "assault weapons" and every magazine over 10 rounds.

Thanks for sharing OP.  I've been using one of those Plano bins for all small parts and it's an overflowing mess now.

I'm going to separate upper/lower parts now and will likely curse you later for compelling me to fill them both up!!

Just right click, save as and name it what you will.

When you print it, make sure that it pretty much fills the entire 8.5 x 11 page of paper when it's printed horizontally (Landscape).

Adding my Kudos to the OP...VERY HELPFUL...a guy over on TOS posted up a portable carry tray he uses to do the same thing. He will be sending me the spreadsheet he uses to manage his "inventory" in the tray.

It's available from Amazon, and looks to be able to hold basically every small part for an AR, including firing pins.

Here the link to it.

It's a legitimate question.

First, just have to get this out of the way: better to have and not need, than need and not have.

Second, I do a lot of shooting at a remove training facility where I can not just grab spare parts when I need them. Comes in handy to have spares of various items. Murphy's law and all that.

Third, I do a lot of shooting with other folks and it is nice to be able to help them out when they experience a breakage that would otherwise shut them down for the rest of the day.

Fourth, plus...it's cool.

:)

Years ago, I actually did something similar for my cleaning components/supplies. Different size brushes, jags, patches, some punches, and even 3 little needle-nose solvent bottles (filled with Slip EWL, Butch's Boreshine, and Gunzilla). Used plastic tackle tray from the fishing section at Walmart. I've got this Plano range box, and the tray fits perfectly in the side compartment intended for the pistol case. Super convenient for range days.

I made little labels for each compartment, but they don't stay on very well. Definitely like your idea much better. Also, never thought to do this for spare parts. Looks like I need to pick up another tray. Thanks for sharing!
