I wear powder free nitrile gloves just so I can clean up faster.

It's a lot easier to take off a glove when I need a beer, as opposed to cleaning my hands, or getting CLP on the fridge.

No.  Not of any sort.

If I used Break-Free CLP, I'd probably wear gloves.  But I use Slip 2000 products exclusively, so no.  I just wash up with Seventh Generation Purely Clean when I'm done and everything comes right off.

I wear nitrile gloves whenever working with chemicals/solvents etc.  So, yes.

Lately, yes. As others have said, one less source of chemicals to get into your skin, even if using the non-toxic stuff, there's plenty of fouling that I don't need all over me.

I do now.

It started when I bought some Nitrile gloves to clean my .22 suppressors since there was a ton of lead.

Since I had them around, I now wear them for regular cleaning.

I wear gloves for a living, so it's not a hassle for me to wear gloves while dealing with VOC's and lead and such....

Newsflash... people have been working with solvents/oils all their life with ZERO PPE's (personal protective equipment). Guess what.. NOTHING happened! Wait, what?! Yep. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada.
Good grief.. if you're really concerned that handling lubes/oils will affect your health... check yourself into the local mental institute. People have handling such for longer than you've been alive.
But "those types" probably believe red M+M's will kill them instantly too. IDIOTS. Just tell those people to get a life and wake up to reality.

Ah, the ol' "Well I know tons of people who never do anything the safe way and they're all totally fine as far as I can tell, thus there's no possible side effects from those things!" argument.  Solvents absorb into your skin, that's a fact.  Whether they harm you or not hasn't been researched all that much with the levels a typical gun owner would see.

Personally, I think there are plenty of other things in the average person's life that will affect their health more than wearing gloves when gun cleaning.  The ventilation of the room they clean in probably has as much or more of an effect than gloves do.  Then again, wearing gloves is easy, cheap, and speeds up cleanup when I'm done, so the possible protection benefit is a bonus.  If I don't have any, I don't worry too much about it.

I recently started wearing glove at the behest of my daughter. Smart kid reads all the contents and warnings on the solvents / cleaners plus she helps with the cleaning after we go to the range. 10 years old and is a great shot and cleans her own 10/22.

No gloves. Soap after cleaning.
Powder resudues after shootong are also going to land in your hands. And stay in your skin like tatoo. Cannot be removed with soap.
Should I also use gloves for shooting?

Well by that logic you shouldn't wear gloves for anything ever.

Yes, I do. Like many have mentioned, I use some brand or another of nitrile or vinyl gloves. No really worried about chemical exposure from (most, cause some are pretty nasty) gun cleaning chemicals. But I just find it easier than getting oil, dirt, grease, etc all over my hands. Just take off gloves and you're good to go.

Many years of absorbing chemicals through your skin WILL reduce your lifespan. But do I wear gloves? Hell no! :-)

No, but I would not be opposed to it and have nothing negative to say about those who do. I should likely start doing so (Latex/barrier)

We used to wear nitrile gloves back in the 1960's when we would run through the fog from the DDT trucks spraying for mosquitoes.

I never used to but I'm going through chemo for the 3rd time. I worked with some nasty chemicals in the 80's and 90's and I have a really rare blood cancer. Who knows what causes cancer but its pretty much standard now for everyone to wear gloves.

Thank you. I'm in my third month and it's probably the worst compared to the last two times. I'm sure I'll be fine but it still sucks. I have a wonderful family and lots of positive attitude so I'll keep kicking around for a while longer.

I hate it but I wear them, go to harbor freight and get some good ones that fit well and don't rip. I get the 9 mil and am satisfied.

I usually get the black nitrile ones off amazon, keep a couple of boxes around, good for cars, guns, and food preparation (spicy food and raw meat)
