I heard of Ed's Red just never got around to making it... How long do you soak your BCG in it? then do you just rinse it off, dry it and then re oil it?

Drop mine in a ball jar filled with Carbon Killer. Rinse/wipe off, re-oil. |

This...then SLIP 2000, EWL or equiv.=GTG for another 5k or so. |

Take it apart and spray Balistol. Clean with toothbrush and paper towels. Apply Eezox under extractor plate. Apply Super Lube to everything else including charging handle. Takes 5 minutes. |

Foaming bore cleaner. let it soak for an hour or so and you'll be surprise. Oh, yes and it doesn't smell. My wife always though Hoppe's was my after shave until I started using the foaming bore cleaners!

I use the best household item known to man next to duct tape, brake cleaner of course.

What kind of ultra sonic cleaner can use combustable cleaning agents. Quick amazon looked didn't yield much.

Hopps in an olive jar and pickle jar. Put the carrier in the olive jar, bolt side down, rest of the parts in the pickle jar. Let them sit while I clean the rest of the rifle,make some ammo and go back to cleaning and the carbon comes off pretty easy.

Seems like a lot of waste when y'all drop this stuff in a jar full of cleaner no?
I'm a newbie to all this but just use Hoppe's #9 with towel/toothbrush then some KleenBore CLP. |

1 minute and 1 napkin will completly clean off my chrome BCG. Then I just put some of my favorite lube on it.

CLP and a toothbrush. Wipe down and apply another coat of CLP. Then lube the rails underneath the carrier with Super Lube.

Really dirty?
Glass of odorless mineral spirits and then scrub with nylon USGI brush after it soaks an hour or three. Then lubricate with MPro7 LPX. I like it to run wet. I would dip it in a mason jar of LPX if I had one, but since I don't and haven't bought one yet, I just paint it on and pour it on the insides. Works great. |

Well,
I've switched out to the nickel boron coated bcg and hammer... When I take it out I use a papertowl to clean, and run them with just a drop of oil...then run them... They run great! Bret |

Using brake cleaner for general / routine cleaning purposes on an AR is ridiculous. I prefer to use Ballistol, or Hoppes # 9 solvent, if necessary. |

The chrome bolts - wipe them off and re-lube.
The nickle boron bolt - wipe them off and re-lube. The parkerizied bolts - spray the loose stuff off with carb. cleaner, wipe off, scrub with a brass bristle brush, scrap anything that is left over, wipe off, re-lube and put it all back together. |
