Gentlemen, if you're looking to buy or sell things here, use the EE.

I vote for the Dishwasher method as well
the result should be good and I am sure you could fit at least half of them into a Dishwasher at a time do take some pictures if you do this route |

What? a hundred PMAGS used in Afghanistan? The troops must have been forced to get rid of them when the Army just recently banned pmags...

Run them in the dishwasher.
Don't use the drying cycles, and turn it off and open it up as soon as it finishes washing. They'll be hot enough that they'll dry quick by steaming off. |

lol, a misunderstanding......it has since been rescinded with the clarifying language that it's not an order.....TACOM doesn't give orders.....merely suggestions.....which people tend to ignore
There's a 10pg thread on it in the magazine section. |

Dishwasher, no dry cycle. Break them down first and maybe drop them in a trash can full of soap & water to get the majority of the crap off before it goes into your plumbing. |

Why not remove the springs and just run the plastic part through a Hydrogen Peroxide & Water bath, the springs just spray down with seem CLP????

[Last Edit: 6/9/2012 7:48:36 AM by jestice75]
Ran a couple dozen through the dish washer a couple days ago. First time I managed to stop it before the dry cycle. I decided they could use 1 more go around, but caught some ADD and didn't stop it before the dry cycle. Seems to have created some permanent fog spots in the round count windows. Doesn't seem like the dishwasher completely cleaned them either. |

Bucket of soapy water & good scrub brushes. When done, rinse with clear water & reassemble.

I would run a couple through but not that many in a dishwasher.
That sand will get in the power spray bars and any rotatables in your dishwasher. Bet you find sand on your dishes and cups. Take them to a do-it-yourself carwash. WAY MORE water pressure to clean off inside and out. |

If you want to sell some of them, having Afghan dust on them might make the sale easier for wannabes.
Maybe sell 25 clean and 25 as war veterans. |

Easiest and fastest way: local coin-op laundromat. Use some liquid laundry soap and warm water wash. The agitator (big paddle thing in the center) won't hurt anything, but just stop the machine and remove them before the spin cycle as this would scare the hell out of anyone within earshot. If you run two or three machines at once, you can do the whole lot in 10-15 minutes.
The upside for you is that you won't be eating from dishes that have been cleaned in a toxic waste dishwasher and your wife/girlfriend won't stick you with a kitchen knife when she finds out what you did. If you're washing guns or mags in the dishwasher, odds are you're single. ![]() |

These puppies were clearly Afghan used. The guy certainly didn't get more money because of it. Lots of sgt. Xyz, the same last name on 8-12 of the mags, the fact that they were coated in dust, 100 mph tape, drawing on some by guys with some time on their hands, some marked "tracers", a few that were run HARD & 5 broken. Soap is bad news for windowed PMAGs. Leaves a nice cloud, but they'll be fun to dye.

Got them cleaned via this method, same shorts and all. Came out great, minus the mags I used soap on. Windows are clouded out. Time to bust out the rit dye and electric tape and practice dying on them! |
