Hi.  This is my first post, so hopefully I am putting it in an appropriate place.

I recently bought an Aero Precision OD Green Cerakoted upper/lower set (April 2016) and after my first time out at the  range, I was shocked at the damage to the Cerakote.  After reading the Cerakote abrasion and scratch test results, I do not think that this would be typical wear.

Has any else run into an issue with the Cerakote coming off of their AR so easily? I opened a ticket with Aero precison and they told me that this kind of wear was normal.

Damage to brass deflector was apparent after first round was fired.  Cerakote is removed to base aluminum. Firing brass subsonic 300BLK.

Seriously. What kind of coating can prevent chipping with brass ejecting at high speed.  Why don't you put a teflon or thin rubber pad on that area.

The other 2, you almost need to have an electron telescope to see.  I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the rifle

On the one hand, properly cured cerakote should stand up better than that (at least in pics #2 and #3) from casual contact with an object, unless you really tried to gouge it...the brass deflector (pic #1) scratching is to be expected with use.

On the other hand, it's a tool.  Shoot it.  Earn your scratches with pride.  If you bought it to look pristine, then never shoot it, encase it in Lucite, and never take it out of the safe.

Oh, and welcome to ARFCOM
