i believe my brake is wearing more than it should. dont know why.
its a fortis 5.56 stainless steel.

im using a 10.5 sbr, and only shoot federal m193 through it.
i  have put approx. 1800 rounds through it. ive cleaned it several times, used a copper brush, soaked it. it appears the material is wearing away rather than carbon build up.
it has not affected my accuracy. i dont believe im getting strikes but i could be wrong.

i want to replace it but im afraid the same thing will just occur.
maybe im doing something wrong.
any help is appreciated. thanks.

first is image of what it looked as new.

and heres after 2 mos. use

Did you contact Fortis to see what they say?

The wear on that brake looks excessive.  I run an AAC brake with my can on my 10" SBR and it has some erosion but its not nearly as pronounced as that. I've also got about double the round count as you

Keep in mind with every shot you are plasma blasting the brake with heat, fire, dirt, and un-burnt powder.

I'd call them and see if they warranty it. If not switch to a new/more reputable brand.

Thank you for the replies guys.

I contacted the manufacturer and they were kind enough to replace it for me with a nitrided one.
Hopefully this one holds up a lot better.

I Appreciate the input very much.
Hopefully i wont have further issues. Thanks again.

Just stop shooting it!
BTW, is this brake effective?

Your barrel is too short.  The powder is not all burned and you have some of it hitting the break at about 2800 fps or so.  All breaks wear.  Slow powder and short barrels make it worse.
