I am putting together a new AR. I decided to splurge and bought a Spikes nickel-boron coated BCG. When I installed the BCG it worked fine until I pulled the trigger, then it locked up. I tried the things in the archives on this subject. I was able to unlock the bolt and tried the BCG from my other AR. It worked fine. I contacted the folks who I bought it from and they had me try a few things. I swapped the bolt from my BCM BCG with the Spikes bolt and it worked fine. The Spikes bolt would not fit the BCM BCG. I contacted Spikes and was told that sometimes there is a buildup of the coating inside the bolt that binds the firing pin and if the pin is still forward, the bolt will not unlock. I removed the bolt and tried the pin. Sure enough, the pin would not go all the way into the bolt unless I forced it. Spikes is replacing the parts.

By the way, this is just FYI. I am not complaining. Both the dealer and Spikes were pleasant to deal with and more than willing to help.
