I have a DPMS AR15 with an Aim Surplus NIB coated bolt carrier.  During quals today, on my last round, the bolt locked open, but when I went to drop the bolt, it wouldn't.  I bumped the butt stock and it returned to battery.  This has happened a couple of other times.  What could be causing it.  Standard buffer, new spring. ejects brass in the 1-2 o'clock area.

Look in side the buffer tube and make sure it is machined out properly. I have seen this only once, but it can happen.

Six position buffer tube, MagPul CTR stock, High Standard spring (I think.)  I'll pull the carrier, buffer and spring later today to check for burrs or catching on the buffer spring retainer.  The retaining plunger was my first thought as well.

Pulled the spring and buffer, didn't feel any burrs, but the inside of the tube has some roughness to it.  Enough to feel when I stick a finger in it.

MagPul CTR stock uses standard carbine buffer and carbine spring (10.75") in the telescoping receiver extension.

Any pictures?  I would like to see inside the buffer tube, bottom of your bolt carrier, fire control group pocket and upper if possible.

Link to pics repaired.

I did not change the receiver tube just the stock.

The pic that shows part of the inside of the tube shows some roughness.  The "purple" color is the reflection of the flash from my cell on the oil at that location.
