Ran two boxes of WPA 55gr FMJ from my 10.5" suppreseed AR First box used 20rnd PMAG, 5/20 were FTF looking like the above. Second box I used two different 10 round mags.. no FTF. Must be the PMAG right? Its not that old of a mag, maybe has 500-700 rounds in it. |

Looks like a short stroke where the carrier does not go all the way back and the bolt digs into the round when it starts forward.

maybe it was just that box then? Short stroke wouldn't be a magazine issue?

Short stroke could be caused by a gas leak or underpowered ammo. What happens if you run factory 5.56 or .223? Don't do any first time shooting or diagnosing using steel cased ammo.

Its not a new gun.. probably 1000-1500 rounds through it. Runs fine with other ammo. Used some Wolf Mil Classic with no issues last time.

Need to see the spent cases at the rims where the extractor was pulling the spent causes out of the chamber to determine if you have a over function problem that the can or gas port was inducing.
Also as pointed out, steel case coated ammo in not the ammo to use for rifle break in. The chamber walls can be less than smooth yet (live fire and cleanings solves this), and the coating at the cases is going to cause nothing by problems. |
