First thread I believe so Hello everyone! I just finished my second AR build and while assembling the lower and trigger assemblies, I tested it and the trigger reset like it was supposed to. I played with it for quite a while dreaming for my Upper to arrive. The Upper got here, so of course I took it out to test fire. The first couple of rounds went off without a hitch. The next few went off like it was automatic! Got it back to the house, tested to see if the trigger was resetting, and found that the trigger would reset if I took y finger off the trigger after the hammer had been cocked quickly, requiring me to take my finger completely off the trigger, otherwise, when I slowly released the trigger for it to reset, the hammer would fall.I'm not saying my gun is broken, but it is DEFINITELY not what local Law enforcement officers want me to own! I took the entire trigger assy. apart, made sure the disconnect spring was in correctly (it was) put it back together and same results. It is a RRA single stage trigger that I bought new. Please don't let this be because this is what a single stage is supposed to do! Any help or insight on this would be appreciated!

Check your disconnector. May have come out or put the spring in wrong or used wrong spring.

Did that. Spring was still seated, got wider at one end, wide end goes in the hole.

With the lower in hand,

Without touching the trigger, lower the hammer back until the rear hammer sear is as close as you can get to the disco sear.

The distance that the two should miss each other should be in the .001 to .003 range with the trigger untouched, hence when the trigger is held back, the hammer cocked back on the disco sear, the disco should not be releasing the hammer until the trigger is almost a hair short of being back at the forward rest position.

If you do have a large free gap between the disco and hammer sears on the pass-by, then the choices boil down to either having the FCG replaced (it's defective), or re-timing the disco to bring the free gap into check.

Thank you gentlemen for the help! I was reading the post that had the exact same thing Dano posted up last night, but really didn't want to "fix" the problem myself. Long story short; careful use of the Dremel tool on the forward lower portion of the disco has got the trigger assy. resetting again. The distance between the disco and the hammer "spur" it catches is still greater than .0003, but it now resets after I SLOWLY release the trigger. Now for the fun part; TESTING!I'll post up later if I have true;y fixed the problem. Thanks again guys! (Stupid disconector!)

All I can say, is if you can measure the free gap down to .0003", you got a hell of lot better tools that I do sitting around the shop.

Got to remember that a piece of paper is around .002" thick.

So on that note, 001 to .003 free gap range is just fine.
