My AR15 stopped chambering a new round after first shot was working no issues until last weekend at range. tried mag in other my other AR15 and no issues. It ejects the fired round and bolt goes home but no round any ideas?

ETA- I read too fast, I thought you meant you couldn't get the bolt to close on a round...

Probably a short stroking issue.

Do you have a magazine in it loaded with cartridges?

Short stroking for sure.

Did you change the ammo you were using before?

Sounds like short stroking. Will it chamber with the charging handle? If not break it down and look at the chamber bore closely.

Short stroke. Did you accidentally install a rifle buffer spring in place of a carbine buffer spring?

Check gas rings on the bolt inside the bolt carrier. They will look like 3 little rings of shinny metal.

Before taking it apart a good test is pulling the bolt out as far as it will go and seeing if it will stay in place. Place it on a flat surface with the bolt facing down. The weight of the carrier should not let the carrier slide down.

How old is the rifle, and has anything been changed as far as rifle components or ammo?

Description of rifle configuration (and pics if possible) may also be a help.
