THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I got my Phase 5 EBR a couple weeks ago, and just got the rest of my parts last week, I finished putting everything together earlier this week, but for the life of me, cant get the stupid bolt catch roll pin out.

What am I doing wrong? Do you knock it out left to right, or right to left? I have been trying right to left, as left to right puts the punch at an angle. Is there something else Im not doing correctly? I tried google, but that only brings up AR15 bolt catch pins. I soaked it oil, but have not tried any cleaners, just found out Im empty today and havent gone to the shop yet. I have tapped and tapped, and that fucker has not moved.

I dont have the ability to post pictures, but I can email some to whoever can, Im sure yall require some. From previous postings I read, pictures are mandatory. Yall dont seem to believe shit without photo confirmation, which is understandable. Faith only takes you so far.

What am I doing wrong?

On an AR-10 (ARMALITE) you drive it straight through in the direction that you put it in.

That's from buttstock to muzzle for those in Rio Linda.

Had the same problem. Using a plastic/rubber mallet it would not budge. Switched to a steel tack hanner and smacked the hell out of it. Volia! It came half way out. Smacked it again and it came all the way out.

Don't be timid with it. Thats what worked for me.

Just press the pin out. Use a drill press. Put the lower in a padded vice. Put the pin punch in the chuck.
Lower the chuck slowly with the hand wheel. Slowly press the pin out.
This works well for the installation of the pin also.
In a pinch, I have used a pair of channel lock pliars(duct tape on jaws for padding). This will also work.
Go slow, be careful. It is so easy to scratch the lower.

I got it out, just had to put some balls to it. Dodd scratch my lower a bit next to there rear take down pin. Ended up using my 11 in 1 to hold the punch. Need to get some longer punches for the AR10. Gonna try it out tomorrow and see how well it works. I'm really curious how well it will function in the 25 rounders.
