Thanks Larry. I had it oiled up pretty good. On my latest range session I had no FTEs so I'm hoping those have been worked out.

check the gas block as well...I was running a bipod config like that on mine and the recoil translates through the bipod into the handguards and will try and press the gas block forward off of the barrel. I had to push it back into position and tighten the screws, easy fix but caused lots of trouble.

Shot mine for the first time today after I installed a DD 12.0 rail and low gas block. Put a bunch of Hirt through it, expecting poor performance but it ran great! Not one failure and groups were pretty tight, which really surprised me given the ammo and that I was heating the barrel up with long strings of fire. It was a lot of work though with the light frontend and heavy trigger; the trigger absolutely must be lightened.

I'd get rid of the bipod and bag it, first.

Good advice, I borrowed a lead sled to sight mine in.

Nice looking rifle. I would run a few hundred rounds threw it before I worried. I have an all armalite 20" AR-15 and it had some issues when I 1st got it. I tried running steel case threw it and it would short stroke like every other round and even a few ejection issues. I finished breaking it in with some pmc bronze which is loaded pretty hot and after 500 rounds triend the steel again and it runs it flawless so far. I have run 180 rounds of WPA threw it now after a short break in time and no issues. I think the armalites just come pretty tight from the factory.

I have done that with my AR-10s when new and they all loved being wet. Now that they are older, they don't have to be all that wet.

I took larry's advice when I got mine and she never missed a beat. I have about 300 or so rounds down the pipe now. I am also settling in on a load.

keep her wet!

I have been shooting out that way a few times. Same with the Stillwater area. A buddy of mine and I bought an AFU car for a couple hundred bucks, then drug it out to the flats by Fernley...and shot the hell out of it. The junkyard gave us some strange looks when we dumped it off for scrap...

I have been to Fallon more times than I can count...

The pmags are good mags and they are much lighter than the steel weights that came with the older armalite rifles. Based on my experience with armalite products, the malfunction is typical. Although, it may work itself out or could be tweaked, if you prefer reliability.

I recently bought the same rifle and have not had any issues with it yet. I have 100rds through it so far. I have been shooting it from a bench with a front rest and rear bag and have gotten approx. .90" 5 shot groups with the Factory Federal 168 smk match ammo as well as the AE 150gr fmj. With my reloads I have gotten .5" with 125gr Sierra pro hunters and W748 and approx. .9" with 155gr Palma SMK with CFE-223. I tried some 110gr Vmax but they shot so poorly I decided to scrap them. The one thing I noticed when shooting the groups is that the first three will clover leaf and the last two will hit a little higher and open up the group. Over all I couldn't be happier with the rifle. I wished I would have bought one years ago when I had the chance.

Gee, I have 5 M-15s and 6 AR-10s and that's not my experience.

If it's a Colt, it's a copy of an original ArmaLite.

I am not LARRYG36.

Racing is life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

If your AR10 is marked Geneseo, IL, it's still an AR10 no matter what some people say.

My new AR 10A has been perfect so far with 40 rounds of PMC Bronze. I'm hoping that it will be able to run WPA Classic Military after break in. I just installed a Troy TRX 308 Battlerail and a VLTOR stock. Haven't tested it since the installations though. I'm also waiting on an AAC muzzle brake and a Nikon M-308 scope to be delivered in about a week.
