If you can't beat the voice and can spare the scratch the price you mention would probably be a good buy depending on the model and accompanying accessories. If you feel yourself craving an AR10 and can hold out wait until the next batch of AR10As are released these units use the prevalent AR10/SR25/DPMS pattern magazine and it you shoud you decide you'd like a 308 AR from another manufacturer later the mags would be usable in both rifles.
Folks here don't like to hear it but the AR10B is dead thats why you find then and at a good price while the AR10As are virtually sold out. Myself I sold off the three Bs I had while I could still get a good buckl just after the announcement that the As were comming. I was too slow on the initial release and did not pick one up but am anxiously waiting for the next batch and hopefully a couple more model choices. I'm glad I can have one mag for all my AR10s. |

Like I said, I won't get a look at the rifle until this weekend when I get home. I'm not sure of the exact model or anything as far as accessories. The call I got was basically "Hey a guy I know is wanting to sell this Armalite AR 10 for a pretty good deal, you interested?" Of course I said hell yeah I'm interested. I guess I should have asked if there was anything in particular I should be looking for when I do get a chance to look at it. That is assuming he hasn't found another buyer by then.

I really struggled with my M1A at a sniper class. A buddy had an AR system in .308 and he didn't have to work as hard as me with a free floated barrel, pistol grip, adjustable stock, optic rail, and external magazine fed.

As previously established the B is the flagship and Armalite must say it is not dead, I say no educated customer who owns other brands of 308 ARs and no AR10 would never buy a B model if they can buy an A model because of the need to non interchangable mags, I say the B sales will fall off and Armalite will be forced to increase production of the A or go out of business. I believe the business logic is undeniable however only time and the market will tell if I am right.

"I say" doesn't mean a damn thing when you say it. The naked truth is that you want ArmaLite to go out of business. I really don't think anything would make you happier. Guy starts a thread asking about an AR-10 and you do your damndest to keep him from buying it. Give it a rest. |

I just bought a 10T B and love the generation 2 mags, they fit nice and snug without the sloppy fit I see from the magpuls on other guns. And the technical help from Armalite has been superb! I thought wanted a Colt LE901 but I am glad now I went with the Armalite, it is one of the best shooting guns I have ever had. I never buy a "me too" product which is what a person gets with the SR25 platform. It is like buying a kit car with a VW under it. |

Mags don't matter. You buy a firearm, you buy parts and supplies for that weapon. Not everyone used them Rem 700 action, not everyone uses 1911 mags, so why bitch about the AR10 using its own mag? Is 10$ really that big of a deal when shooting a rifle that cost in excess of 1200$? If so, stick with the AR15.
My Armalite has been very reliable and accurate. Everytime i see other 308ars at the range, they usually always have mag related malfunctions, have yet to see an Armslite fail due to mag problems.I'm sure it happens, but i personally have not witnessed it. You need an AR10 in your arsenal. Then you can hunt anything in America with it, as well as defend yourself and family from tyrannical forces at be. You can customize it just as much as any other 308, and be better made then most. Armalite had the best CS around, better QC than most, and all around a good company. The only downside to Armalite, is ammo prices. But i pretty much only shoot American eagle FMJ, so price isn't that bad. Get the Armalite and don't look back. |

The AR10 was my first AR. Traded out all my Gen I mags for Gen IIs. Superb mags and weapon. I have plenty of mags on hand so the A platform and mags are not something I need. Ammo is a little expensive but so is hunting ammo. My trigger was heavy like most basic AR15s from the factory but I am working on that now. For a grand the Armalite it is a great buy.

Ya know, if you look through the archives I made the call many years ago that to stay competetive Armalite would have to start making the ninety degree mag. It was put forward at that time that Armalite would mever make the decision because to do so as it would spell the end for the M14 mag units since most new buyers would want a standard mag for all their 308 ARs. Boy was I wrong on that one. I also said at that time that if Armalite were to start making ninety degree mag rifles it would betray all of their early supporters to whom they were very commited. It appears however to increase their market share or maintain sales levels they have done just that. I was amazed when it occured and pleased sinced now all of my ARs can use the same mags after parting with my B models. A couple model As are in my future. I know the early supoprters feel betrayed especially if they have multiple rifles and a pile of mags but if there is blame to be placed it is on many here on this forum who have failed to buy enough complete rifles and parts to keep Armalite sales up. I do not wish for Armalite to go out of business. Armalite talks about superior quality and their receivers are number 1! But you will see me post about the Walther Lothar barrels being not of the same quality and the M14 mag which was a compromise to the AWB. I will also post about the AR10 trademark if I fell the topic warants it. I will also say that AR may stand for 'Armalite Rifle' but it is a Colt trademark sold with the AR15. My opinion is just as vaild as any on this discussion board and since I do not drink the cool-aide posters may expect a different point of view in many cases. I am also curtious and to not name call or try to defame others character. |

You are still calling the folks at ArmaLite liars and you are doing nothing but trolling, as you have done for years. You say you do not wish for ArmaLite to go out of business, then you turn right around and contradict yourself. I don't know why you bother posting in this forum. I can't remember the last, or first, time that you actually helped answer anyone's questions. A few days ago, you told a user than we didn't welcome him or his original AR-10 rifle to this forum. It's not the original AR-10 that's not welcome or that user. And you really don't know what AR stands for. Nah, you don't try to defame anyone, just calling TR at ArmaLite a liar every time you turn around. Nah, no defaming there. ![]() |

If one has a rifle and a few mags WTF do you have to worry about???? I guess my same old 8 mags I carry around in a 30 cal ammo can that have fired thousands of rounds will let me down
. You logic is flawed like a crotchless jock.Suggesting that a weapons system is dead becuase you have a hard-on for the old style mags is fucking stupid. If a person has a handful of mags, the rifle will do just fine. Do you think all the old B are going to stop working just becuase there is a new option available. Ive heard some dumb shit but this is terrible Originally Posted By Carbinekid: I know the early supoprters feel betrayed especially if they have multiple rifles and a pile of mags but if there is blame to be placed it is on many here on this forum who have failed to buy enough complete rifles and parts to keep Armalite sales up. |

I never could understand why people did not want an ar10 because it didnt use a plastic mag. I only have 1 complete ar10 but the mags are real quality. I have approx 300-400 rounds down the pipe and not 1 failure. Not one!
I have also settled in on a load for it and we are talking about 3/4 MOA or better. A plastic mag is the least of my concern. My 10T is great. My biggest grip is that the recoil makes it bounce in the rest and throws my groups off. I start off real well then after the recoil takes a toll my group starts to open up and string to the left becasue I am pulling the rifle and flinching. But that is far from the 10T's fault. Buy a bunch of mags and have them. plastic mags are not the cats meow. |

I have an older AR-10A2 that I have had for seven years. It is accurate, and has always accurate. When I first bought it, it had a few issues. Apparently it had been sitting on a shelf for a few years (2001 build date, I bought it in 2005), so when I sent it to Armalite, they did a whole bunch of updates to the rifle. After getting it back, the rifle has been absolutely flawless.
I would rather have an A4 upper, but that is the only thing I would change about the rifle. |
