THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
As a C&R I get their flyer and found it on page 3. IT's # CC-D397 and the price is $ 1195, certainly reasonable for a rifle that is described "Like new, appears unfired." Serial # US5639X Figure you all would be able to date it.

Just thought I'd pop in and share the info.

Can't date the rifle without the entire serial number. Our seial numbers are not in any specific order so the full serial number is needed. You can give it here or email info@armalite.com and I can look it up for you.

Sorry! I don't have the rest. I was just relaying info that SOG has in their paper. If you're interested, I'd suggest you contact SOG directly for the rest of the info. Good luck! Seems to me that that's a great buy.

My interest was to help answer your question. I'm not personally interested.

I am sure that Tim has more than a few AR-10s accessible to him.

Did you even read his post and realize who he is?

It also sounds like you have to have an FFL to buy from them.

If it's a Colt, it's a copy of an original ArmaLite.

I am not LARRYG36.

Racing is life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

If your AR10 is marked Geneseo, IL, it's still an AR10 no matter what some people say.

Armalite, it's not just a screen name.

Sorry for my oversight. I most certainly didn't mean to "snub" anyone here and no, I didn't read the poster's name but just the post.

I only posted up this info because SOG had that particular rifle for sale. You don't normally see them often, at least I haven't. Also, of course you'd need an FFL to buy from SOG. Like any other firearms distributor, they will deal with you if you have a C&R or if not, your FFL would order it for you.

I'm also unaware of the serial number issue. I reposted what was listed with the listing on the SOG paper. It appeard to only be missing one number but that's my assumption. A phone call to SOG would, I'm sure, provide you with the rest of the number if you needed it to accurately date it.

Am I missing something else? I feel like I stumbled into a private conversation when I was only trying to be helpful. I'm a DPMS man, myself, but do so much love the .308 platform rifle that Armalite and Mr. Stoner pioneered way back when. It's a wonderul firearm. Sorry if I seem to be obtuse here but that was not my intention.

It's ok. TR from Armalite was going to try and help you date the rifle. It was kinda funny to us that you thought he may want to buy it. He has all the Armalite toys since he works for them. You are right, they are wonderful firearms and welcome to the AR-10 forum. Just make sure you don't call another 308 AR and AR-10 and you will be ok.

Thanks. I learned early on not to 'confuse' the two.

However, I will say that saying AR10 and meaning a platform rifle in 7.62 x 51/NATO caliber is like saying "Jello" anymore. I fully comprehend and appreciate the difference between the brands and the history. I think eventualy there will be a conformance between brands and parts will swap between them just as readily as the AR15s. It's going to take some time, however.

I also didn't assume that TR was a buyer but was willing to help with the dating. I did appreciate his offer to help. I really did but didn't have any more data.
