THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
One of the modifications planned for my AR-10 is a new stock. I thought I was pretty good at searching things but nothing came up on my specific question

Is there a major functional difference between the Magpul ACS and UBR? I understand the cheek piece staying in the same spot but does that really make a big difference in a normal active shooting stance or prone position? The collapsed and extended ranges are about the same so I'm just trying to figure out if the UBR is worth $150 more.

Thanks for your help!

Are you NW Metro?

I can let you fingerfrack a 24" T, 20" T and 20" A4 with:
A) ARMALITE A2 stock
B) UBR
C) ACS
D) A1
E) CTR
and the PRS

The UBR is not light.

Wow! Thanks for the offer! I live in Duluth but could drive over for that offer. I'll send you a message.

Agreed! haven't dealt with a stock yet that locks up as tight as a UBR. If weight is an issue, get it anyway

I actually traded my stripped upper receiver for an UBR today. Can't wait!

Another vote for the UBR. Well worth the extra cash. I have had every stock that Magpul makes plus several Vltors and just put a UBR on my first AR-10 build. I really like it.

I have a UBR on my AR10 - incredible add. Love it. Highly recommend it. You'll need a Slash buffer to go with either option, so whatever the cost is...add another $100.

308 semi's aren't for the financially desperate.

You did not state the current arrangement but for me I like the UBR on 20" and up barrels and ACS, CTR, SopMod everything below. With a UBR, I don't have any use for A1/A2 stock - UBR is an awesome stock.

Why do you have to have a slash buffer if you already have the carbine setup? I did notice that the 9mm buffer is just two ounces over the slash buffer weight but $75 cheaper has anyone tried this combo?

The 9mm buffer is too long, any standard carbine buffer is too long to work with the Magpul UBR on a .308 AR. The UBR uses a proprietary buffer tube that is shorter than the ArmaLite .308 carbine buffer tubes. If you don't believe me call Magpul.
