Here's my baby /"BLACK BETTY" .... ironic being she's no longer black
she has the PRI SPR forend, and the SPR rail, w/ an LT OBR scope mount, the glass sits at 3" above the bore

Looks Great! I'm waiting for the parts to come in so I can get mine together.

Jeff

EDIT: How do you like the grip setup?

When shouldered I hold the gun pretty firmly by the tube between the rail and receiver. Not bad though.

Hokie - That looks like an excellent set-up. Very well thought out. What scope do you have on it?

Thank you. It's a SWFA SS 3-9x42. FFP Mil-Dot reticle, so at 3x it resembles a standard duplex which I like. I didn't want parallax adjustments either. Less to fiddle with. Basic optic, but good clarity and it does what it needs to do. Up here we rarely shoot anything past 300 yards. Too much work for the meat and not enough interest in stepping on a flattened zombie.

Hey Duffy,

What color combo did you use on that? I love it!

Thanks! OD, desert tan, and some kind of brown (maybe coyote brown)

Dark colors first, desert tan last, then a light spray all over the rifle to give the dark colors a blended look

Your gun is not a Sudanese, but is the Portuguese, or "NATO" version. The flash hider/grenade launcher with bayonet lug on top is a dead giveaway, as is the lug at the back of the upper receiver that blocks the telescoping charging handle. The Sudanese had a three-bladed flash hider threaded to accept an ENERGA rifle grenade, and a one-piece charging handle that protruded through a channel in the upper when cycled. You can see the differences in the picture of my pair of AR-10s:

My new AR-10A (A10A4CBF). I just can't seem to stay away from .308 ARs. This is replacing a 16" DSA STG-58 carbine –– I just can't seem to get comfortable shooting FALs.

As pictured, weighs 9lb 15oz empty and 11lb 6oz loaded with 20 rounds.

Particulars include a Magpul STR stock, LaRue 9.0 handguard, KAC handstop, Troy M4-style gas block flip front sight, Vltor VC302 flash hider. The little box behind the M4S is a twist mount for the Aimpoint 3x magnifier.

I will find out very shortly if the Troy front sight works. I suspect it will be fine. I staked the receiver extension castle nut, and here's a question for you experienced AR-10 shooters: is it a good idea to Rocksett the screws on the gas block?

There's no need - Just torque them correctly. Rocksett is a VERY poor threadlocker anyway.

Changed up my AR-10 since I sold all my 5.56mm gear. Who needs that sissy little round anyways? Now I'm looking to get an offset red dot, and a drop in trigger. Still waiting on my AAC 762SD... I want to SBR this thing as well but I cannot find any barrels in stock.
