nuke: Your list is fairly complete, not the parts I would have ordered, but then its your rifle not mine. Here are a few suggestions for improvement:
- Consider painting the rest of the parts FDE to match the receivers. Easy to do with a spray can.
- My SSA-E has been outfitted with JP Rifles "yellow" springs, which reduces the letoff weight to about 3.5 lbs. Reliability is not compromised. Geissele triggers use the same method for securing the pins that milspec triggers do, works like a charm, no special pins required.
- Once everything is together, check the ejection pattern. If the rifle is under or overgassed, you can swap out lighter or heavier buffers to get ejection into the correct 3 to 4 oclock range. Forward of 3 oclock is overgassed, if it doesn't lock back on an empty mag, you are undergassed. In extreme overgas situations, an adjustable gas block is the cure.
- Your 15" handguard on a 16" barrel is way too long, IMO. You won't be able to install/remove your muzzle device without removing the handguard so you can clamp the barrel in your vise, a PITA. A 12" handguard would be a better choice.
- If you intend to deploy your rifle for home defense, I suggest you get a combination laser and light, instead of a light only. Use the light to identify your target (make sure you aren't about to shoot a neighbor or loved one) and a green laser to mark the point of aim in the dark. Check Streamlight for options.
- Rail covers on an mlok handguard seem superfluous, but I may be missing something.
- The multiple optics seems like overkill. I suggest you mount them one at a time: The scope for outdoor use as at your local rifle range, a red dot for when you feel like practicing CQB and iron sights folded with the laser/light apparatus turned on for responding to a bump in the night
Good luck - CW
