[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 2 first-timer builds done, but after ejecting 1 spent round, one rifle won't chamber another round.

I tried two magazines, with two brands of ammunition, racking in the first round with the charging handle and also by releasing the bolt catch... It won't chamber a second round after ejecting the first - What/how should I check first for the likely problem?

If you only load one round, does the bolt lock open on the empty mag after firing?

Yeah, need a few more details. Does it lock back, how is the shell extracting (forward,backward,far,close,etc.). Also what is the equipment you are using? Lot's of times it is a gas issue from the block not being lined up right.

Yes.. bolt locked back.

I think the rounds were ejecting a short distance, slightly backwards. Seekins stripped lower; Palmetto State Armory (PSA) complete upper without bcg; PSA lower kit; He said the bcg was also PSA, but the packaging was unmarked.

Just slightly backwards is ok, to far back and it would be short-stroking. What magazines are you using?

Using old Army issue, metal only.

Lots more detail needed.

Both rifles in question built the same? Same barrel, buffer and gas system? Same brand gas block, bolt and action spring?

Both rifles ejecting empties the same?

What brands of ammo tried?

ETA: Did you try switching uppers between the lowers? Did the problem move with the upper? Problems with a prebuilt upper get sent back to the builder, if you can confirm that's where the problem is.
