Can't seem to find one that's reasonably priced anywhere for a 727 build.

Can't find any 14.7's or 14.5's with an A2 already mounted in stock.
This is the most reasonable 14.5 w/A2 mounted I found but it is out of stock.
DS Arms $134.95

This might be a dumb question, but how do you get the gasblock on that way?

A "barrel assembly" already has the FSB and barrel nut on it (see the one linked in the 2nd post above)

For other situations, they do make clamp-on gas blocks.

Still looking for a 14.7" M4 with pinned A2...

Close, but no.  I need a 14.7" barrel assembly with a standard A2 perm-attached.  That one is a 14.5" with a longer A2.

Huh. I've never seen that. If you find one, please be sure to paste the link here.

Learn how to weld.

Seriously good luck.

Everything I found is pencil profile and mid-length gas. And these are stripped barrels.
Why don't you just have Adco build one?

I've had ADCO do work for me before, but cutting down a 16" M4 barrel doesn't give it the correct profile.  It would be missing the step-down in front.  Yeah, they could probably do that to, and then refinish it - but then you're looking at a very expensive barrel when all is said and done.

Here's the one I'm ideally looking for (already have one - need another one):  https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/cmmg-m4-barrel-assembly-556-nato-147-pinned-welded-a2-flash-hider-17-twist-front-sight-base-black-55d12d2-815835013220.do

It should be the correct profile. The M203 notch is the same distance from the barrel extension no matter the barrel length. The M16 had a different mounting system without the notch. The notch only applies to a carbine length gas system.

To me, the real question is why 14.7? You'd have to pin and weld anyway, so why not just get a 14.5 and an extended A2 flash hider?

Maybe OP is talking about the reduced diameter right at the end of the barrel (just behind the muzzle device threads) and not the M203 notch?

This link indicates a 14.5" barrel, not a 14.7":

Because I use a Gemtech HALO suppressor.  A2 extended doesn't allow for that usage.

No, still won't have the "correct" profile.  While it may be superficial, it's accuracy I'm going for in the 727 reproduction without needing to SBR it.  See the small step-down just before the muzzle?  If you cut down a 16" barrel, it won't have that unless it's turned down and then refinished - a lot more work.

I got one about 10 years ago from Pete at legal transfers, he had a run of RRA 1/9 M4 barrels made up.

There is just something about the extended A2 that just looks so wrong to me!  Which is funny because I had a FA556-212 pinned to my 14.5 and it looks totally normal to me.

Centurion Arms does, but you're gonna pay for it.

ETA: maybe it's not M4 profile after closer look.

Just buy a 14.5 or 14.7 barrel. Send it to TNTE (top notch top ends, who Faxon uses. Forget ADCO.. their prices are ridiculous). For $60 they will pin a FSB to it (and that INCLUDES the cost of A2 FSB, cap, sling swivel, and delta ring).
TNTE: $60 (includes all parts: A2 FSB, cap, Sling swivel, delta ring/barrel nut). Doesn't matter if barrel is nitride or not.
Adco: $100-ish (includes NOTHING. All parts additional cost). Add to this, they don't like doing nitride barrels.
I'm not knocking ADCO, I'm sure their work is great. But their prices are ridiculous and they are hanging on their rep. Others are far cheaper and TNTE does Faxon's barrels, so I'd say their rep is GTG.

Can attach muzzle devices legally with high temp 1100 degree silver solder and a mapp torch purchased at hardware store. Can get silver solder at brownells or a jewelry supply place.

At that price it doesn't shock me! Oh well. I'll just stay on until something happens.

Good find - that would certainly be a valid option.  Would prefer 1/7 - and rguns is not known for being the best customer service (ie, ordering and being charged right away, but not shipping for a LONG time due to not being in-stock, etc).

Either way, I did finally find a CMMG 14.7" upper from CavArms.  They had ONE left and I got it.
