My brother made a few hints about wanting an AR this year, but with a baby on the way and his military income, it wasn't a justifiable expense. I decided to take that into my own hands a couple of months ago. I hope he likes it, I certainly think it'll come together nicely. I had the lower sent out to Ident Marking to make it a little special for him.

Your brother will love it. At first glance I thought hey that flag is backwards. However like the patch it is meant to be "flying in the breeze while moving forward ". I think it would have looked a bit better though if the white stripes were engraved instead of the red. Wish I had a brother as cool as you.

Awesome. I'm sure he will love it. How can you not? View Quote Well I tried to pry some set up ideas out of his wife, but she didn't have a clue on how he'd want it set up. So I set it up like I would want it, minus the optic, that I'll leave up to him. Some people prefer different set ups, that was kind of the variable I was curious about. I know as a whole he will love it. |

The Navy is smart enough to wear the flag on the left side of the uniform so a normal flag has the stars forward. The Army has the flag on the wrong side so they require a special flag just to be different. |

But I did want it correct for the placement on the magwell. You learn something new everyday. |

What a great, thoughtful gift. Don't forget to post a couple of pics of the joyous occasion of the unwrapping. It should be overwhelming. |

I'm going to do my best to get it on video. I'm trying to come up with a cool way to give it to him, but I've been coming up blank. So if anyone has any ideas, I greatly appreciate it.

View Quote I had a video made I was going to tag him in on facebook going over the build and a time lapse of the build, then was going to give it to him after forcing him to sit through it. But it was lost in a boating accident last month while I was fishing. |

If your brother doesn't give you a back breaking bear hug while fighting tears back...he ain't human, so then shoot him with it because he is alien\predator\ISIS! Just awesome & thoughtful! God Bless you & your brother...especially for his service to our country! |

I'm unbelievably grateful for this, you have no idea. I can't believe everyone kept this on the DL and didn't clue me in in the least bit. I'm glad we finally got to put some round through it, even if it was blistering cold.
Still trying to navigate my way around the forum and getting ideas for optics. |

Glad your brother loves it. Us ARMY folks know the meaning behind the backwards flags [because the Army always moves forward] so it's a cool touch. Although it's not the same between every branch, it's still not technically incorrect to do it that way. All in all, it's a good quality piece and he should be proud to have a great, new rifle and a matching brother to boot.
SIG just came out with the Romeo series that is a sleek red dot similar to it's AIMPOINT counterpart. I got one on sale when they released from a buddy who owns a shop and decided why not. |

We got to take it out last saturday morning before he had to return home to Corpus. I know the rifle is a straight shooter, but we got the flip ups pretty much rezero'd for him. I know we've been talking about optics for it(red dots, 1-6x ect.) His wife accompanied us to the range(she's a trooper) and snagged some pictures. Attached File Attached File Attached File |
