I've built several lowers but after winning a LaRue barrel in their giveaway I'll be building my first upper. Other than forged versus billet, are there any real differences among stripped uppers? I'm going with a forged as the build will be on a forged lower. Are there any brands to avoid? Looking at what I can find in stock, I'm eyeing Rainier and BCM. Thanks in advance for any info.

Did you get the M4 feed ramps or standard?

Rainier and BCM are good.  I almost exclusively use Aero.

Seems to me that many forged uppers have NO rollmarks at all.

BCM is currently out of stock of there "normal" upper receivers.  But they do have blems in stock: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Upper-Receiver-Assembly-M4-Flat-Top-demo-p/flat%20top%20-upper%20-m4%20demo.htm

Read the reviews and a lot of folks say they can't find anything wrong with them or there is just a tiny, hard to find blemish.  I received one last week and it has a thin surface rub mark most of the way along the left side, like maybe the receiver was dragged lightly over some parts on a bench when they were assembling.  Nothing serious and can probably be covered up with oil, I imagine.

Here

I just ordered a few Aero stripped uppers from them today, just looking for some Mega forged now to go with a few Mega lowers I'm working on.

AO Precision if you can get one.  Andro Corp may still be selling them.
