I found the VDI "MANIMAL" EXTENDED FLASH HIDER which is a .750 outside diameter muzzle device so that gas blocks can be taken on and off without removing the muzzle device. I have searched in vain for a similar muzzle device for 300 BLK, in other words a muzzle device with a .750 outside diameter that is threaded 5/8-24 that will work with 30 cal bullets. Does anyone know of one?

Thanks.

$38
0.740" OD
5/8 x 24 threads

You may need to check the bore diameter before shooting 7.62 through it.

Which is why I said check the actual bore first.  It might have a 1/2" bore through it.

If not you could just have it bored or just remove it.

So I'm striking out here, there doesn't seem to be a market for .750" outside diameter 300 BLK muzzle devices.

Does anyone know of a gunsmith or machinist could either ream out that muzzle device or mill down a 300 BLK muzzle device to .750"? I'm probly not using the right terms, but hopefully I'm getting my question across.

Your hometown board might help. Pretty much any small machine shop should be able to drill that one out for you.

Bore and turn down would be the correct terms, and either would be a simple operation, although the latter would obviously require refinishing.

Turning down the OD of a MD (that has an ID of .625) to .750 is not going to leave a lot of meat on the bone. Maybe that is why nobody seems to offer one.

The major diameter of the threads for a 5/8-24 is .625".

If you want an O.D. of .75" that means the wall thickness will have to be 1/16 inch thick.

That's really not much….

The wall thickness of suppressor housings is even less, and they actually have to contain pressure.  1/16 is plenty, especially with steel or titanium. I'd be comfortable making a 5/8-24 threaded 6/4 Ti brake or comp with an OD of .700".

Description says 0.92" diameter so that won't allow him to fit a gas block over it.

What he's looking for is the SSB Brake in 6.5 & 6.8 it's got an outside diameter of .720 which means he can slide the gas block off.

AR15 Performance SSB 6.5 & 6.5 Same Diameter as Barrel

OR

He'll need the .30 cal version. This is actually the one I used on my 7.62x39 build.

SSB .30 Cal.

I really enjoy the SSB brakes from AR15 Performance. I'll probably use them on all of my builds now.
