I wondered why they included a gas key in their kit.

So you either go with the kit, or remove your existing gas key and reinstall it. In this case the cam will not come out for cleaning without removing the gas key again..... I am not excited about changing a well staked gas keys on a good bolt assembly... ummm.

Buy a new stripped bolt carrier? Then you have a spare... just don't store it next to a Mosin. Interspecies breeding is not kind to firearms.

This one job where the use of a Dremel is acceptable. Reproduce the relief shown in the picture, as you can see it doesn't take much. There is no need to take the key off, put a few wraps of electrical tape on the surfaces you may in advertently hit and get to it. Look here |

Look here We're dumping a lot of very hot high pressure gas down that gas key. Are we sure we want to Dremel it? Look at the thinnest section of that gas key's tubular portion and you will see that removing the minimal amount necessary to allow the pin to drop in will not create a section that is thinner. |

Fair enough. Though isn't the thinnest portion of the gas key actually on the outside of the gas tube when pressure is highest? |

And the debate always comes up about KNS Pins in regards to a solution in search of a problem.
No way am I putting a Dremel next to the gas key and thinning it out. Cam Pins, is this a problem that I haven't heard about ? |
