Building an SPR.
Which Barrel do you choose?
Keeping in mind that the benefit of a BCM is that you can go with a factory assembled upper.
If you have a second please post why also.

Out of those Rainier or Larue. I've seen the most consistent results with them, I own a WOA SPR barrel and it shoots well.

Cool I ask because I took advantage of the sale they had. But if I'm spending money I want it to be exactly what I want.
So I'm thinking about selling the barrel to my buddy and getting a different one instead. I know the stealth barrel is a little heavier than most SS barrels though.

In before the "you won't notice a difference"

My woa shoots awesome groups. Heavy as hell but worth It.

Got the barrel with matching bolt, built on Larue upper and lower. Larue mbt trigger and prs stock.

I feed it 77gr hand loads with 8208xbr

I am very happy when I get to take it out

If you got a LaRue barrel during the sale, you scored.  No question about it.

I love my Compass Lake Engineering barrel,it is unreal accurate.  They do krieger, Douglas and criterion blanks chambered in 223 Wylie or their own match chamber, and turned to SPR profile. Lots of options. They can assemble your upper for you, or you can buy one complete. Can't say enough good things about them. Small high end shop with great service.

I took a gamble on a Ranier SPR barrel today.  It was a Rock Creek blank.  For $269, I'll see how it turns out.

Looks like my LaRue stealth might be the winner. It is a bit heavier though. Anybody got one and wish to talk about it? I hope its not like M4A1 barrel heavy.

I've got one sitting in my parts area waiting to go on looks like it's made very well. I got the 18'' barrel.

Stealth numbers

12” 1.13 lbs - (I think this was a typo and it's supposed to be 2.13)

14.5” 2.25 lbs

16” 2.60 lbs

18” 2.92 lbs

20” 3.01 lbs

I had an 18" Stealth upper that shot beautifully.

I bought a barrel during the sale because I miss it so much.

I don't have a Larue barrel, but I can't imagine you could go wrong buying one, especially for $200.  I was so tempted to buy one and stow it away until I build another rifle in the distant future.  I would just use that barrel.

Mmmm, just noticed White Oak has a special on fluted barrels with gas block for $299.  The temptation...

I have had the BCM SS410 and Rainier Ultra Match.  My BCM produced tighter groups than the Rainier Ultra Match.  Might have been luck of the draw however.

After load development my BCM SS410 18" was able to group .60 MOA with Horandy 55 grain SP with Cannelure .  Using Hornady Steel match it groups under 1 inch.  My rainier ultramatch grouped a bit over an inch with Hornady Steel match.  Because I planned to primarily shoot steel match I sold my Rainier Ultramatch on the EE.

I have Larue, Ranier, WOA and BCM and like them all.  Accuracy will fall in that order with Larue and the Ultramatch neck and neck.  Hope this helps.

I was going to buy a Stealth barrel for a similar build during the sale, but ended up having cancer surgery and missed it.  Oh well, there will be more sales!

I'd go with a 20" Larue Stealth or the Rainier 18" rifle gas.

I'll add Black Hole Weaponry to the list. I love my 18" Rifle length gas. Does phenomenal with 77gr SMKs.

I have a Rainier Ultramatch on a Mk12 Mod 1 build, very happy with it 0.5 MOA when I do my part. I ordered a Larue 12 inch Stealth during the sale, just trying to find a rail that I like.

I read somewhere else that someone spoke highly of their products and service.

I picked up 2 18" Noveskes. 1 5.56, 1 7.62. Piling up the rest of the parts next to the barrels on the work bench. Shouldn't be to much longer.

Compass Lake is 20 minutes up the road. I've had work done there twice. Very happy with the work, and the people I met during the visits.
